Photography is Fantastic

For the anniversary slideshow I am scanning photos that were taken before digital cameras. I have a new love and appreciation for digital cameras. I continue to be amazed at the power these pixels have over emotion and memories. I had to share a few of my recent favorites.

I'm editing another batch today and will share some of them later. There are some doozies in that stack of snapshots; I sincerely hope they scanned well enough to use!

Father...
...and son.
Before Email there was the Telegram.
Some faces never change with age like Pat and her son Chris; I hardly recognize Rick in the background :)

Mom should have been born royalty. She has such class and style!

I remember this era: every dessert came in a parfait glass and was served alongside cigarettes and an ashtray. Oh my. What was once so normal is rather gross :/

My favorite thing about this picture besides the people in it?
Glenna's shirt is more wild than the tablecloth - and that's hard to do!

Two classy ladies.

Enlarge this picture, look closely at the face and who do you see? Yup, it's a dead ringer for her!

The most notable thing about this photo is not our obvious fashion sense :) but the lack of a great big huge monkey tree in the background - not to mention an entire vegetable garden!!

Worth noting: mom made the dresses Suzanne and I are wearing-we were a-stylin'. Our friend Allison was ahead of her time with bare legs; she always did roll a bit off of center.

Mom's family.
And that is very cool but the fun I had with this picture was looking at the items in it: Glenna had the couch, The Krain has the picture, the beach had the hanging lamp, I had the coffee table and set of dishes, I still have the end table. Who says we don't recycle?

Ah. The mom heart in me went thump thump.

Are they just the coolest set of grandparents you can imagine? But what's up with his shorts? I tell you, after going through these photos I seriously question Grandpa's fashion sense!

Daddy in his happy place on a boat. One of the last trips with Roger.

Quick. Look. Jocelyn is quiet!
If you are laughing heartily right now, you were probably there :)

Grandma and Anna look like they are in a perfume commercial. Or maybe a clothing line of beach wear.

I was a very happy baby :)

Aha! We now know who came up with the idea of bathing the kids in the blue bucket at the beach. Apparently Glenna has some experience with this idea :)

This snapshot if full of stuff for me. James used to spend hours in Grandfather Milne's lap; Grandfather always said it was the candy jar beside him ;) Oh, and see that Santa Bear with the white yarn beard? He doesn't have much of a beard anymore. Ask James about it. The dirty deed happened behind that mauve (pink) chair he's sitting in. Recycled family furniture is pictured: the coffee table in the foreground and long end table in the background. That was a great house; I could have lived there forever.

Long long day full of play for little Shannon. We're on the ferry heading home.

  1. LOL :) Those were such great pics, but the best was the last one! I don't ever remember John w/ such long hair...I almost didn't know who it was! I had a good chuckle.
